Stay up-to-date on everything happening: Join the BAM Facebook Group. POSTPONED from 9/10 to 9/17! Join us for an Open Shops anchored by Frank Perkins, a local artist focused on sculpture and masks. Frank has been illustrating since he was 5. He got hooked on horror and monster movies and is obsessed by them. His interest has taken him down a long road that lead to a relatively recent foray into sculpted masks. “Halloween has always been hands down my favorite day of the year…for obvious reasons and from the moment I started sculpting seriously I knew mask making was the direction I wanted to take it.” notes Frank. Frank works in a number of different materials from water based clay to oil based clay and polymer clay, depending on the application. He makes molds using plasters, fiberglass, and silicone. He started airbrushing shortly after beginning sculpting so that he could paint his work and use a number of mediums from latex paints to acrylic inks and rubber cement paints. He has taught myself almost everything that he knows. Following Frank’s talk, we’ll have Q&A and also a free share period for others to share what they’ve been working on this summer. This is a virtual event: https://zoom.us/j/95935587554?pwd=NlNORTBSbk1NQXlLSzRlS25vM2ZXUT09 The Bennington Area Makerspace provides opportunities for connection to the entire community via intellectually and physically creative activities. We are building an accessible, open, and safe space for the community to explore science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) skills and support entrepreneurship by making things and making connections. The guiding principle of BAM is to enable transdisciplinary collaboration and intergenerational exchange to feed curiosity, support discovery, and encourage entrepreneurial development in the Bennington area.
